Rear Door Oil Measles
Spotted that my rear door is covered with "oil measles" see pictures, looks like blowing out from exhaust, gut feeling it could be engine oil been overfilled from recent oil change at a stealers, or should I be investigating other issues?

My old 200Tdi had the same. It was due to the transferbox leaking oil.

Just a thought....

If the measles are spread equally on the left and right side (not just around the exhaust) then I would suspect a leaking fuel tank (or release valve).

To be frank you are the best place to answer your own question but it does mean actually getting underneath the vehicle and looking for leaks or signs of seepage. The last time I had something similar was coming home from a service when I found the transfer box level / filler plug had been left loose. In the past it's been things like rear diff pinion seal leakage or leaks from gearbox or crankshaft seals but trying to actually diagnose what the specific cause is in your case without having access to the vehicle is an impossibility. Steve.

I experienced the same after the dealer forgot to put the filler plug back on the rear diff. Shocked Cheers, Vincent

Thanks all for your notes, we think the measles were to do with the air-con moisture that pours out from under the vehicle, driving down M25, M3 then M27 on a hot day sent the air-con into overdrive releasing tons of water then with the aerodynamics of a brick it caused a small vacuum sticking the moisture and dirt to the back door.

We did find a number of "rust preventing" oil leaks from back of the gearbox, grease splatter from the UJ's and engine oil spillage, nothing major but will try to get the work done under warranty.

Just to round it out, the vehicle has now caught the turbo/manifold squeal of death when under a heavy right foot, fingers crossed a Nak gasket will work its magic. Jumped ship to reliability - Mitsubishi L200
