In my experience... Having a generic remap then a proper one (from alive tuning) the difference is huge, save up a little more and get a remap from a more renound defender tuner

Aage,
The link doesn't really explain what exactly you are getting for your money. Please read carefully the following link. As stated there are renowned and well established tuners that have excellent reputations built up on a huge satisfied custome base. Use one of them! If it's cheap there will be a reason and if it goes wrong it could end up costing a damn sight more than you ever imagined. http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic22293.html?highlight=resistor Long way to come from Iceland too. Others can give you exactly what you wish for without you even leaving your driveway! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Ebay ad claims 40% increase in power and torque.
Now Pete at BAS actually gives figures which equates to about 40% increase in power and about 25% increase in torque. Now I personally would believe figures given by someone like Pete as he publishes his power and torque graphs as he Huss a rolling road. I believe Gary at Alive has a rolling road test bed as well. Don't know about Ian at IRB however. Would I personally trust the figures on ebay? NO Would I risk my engine to a unknown ebay seller? NO Talking to some people who are respected in the tuning world they have to remap vehicles which have already been remapped. Your vehicle, your money but things are often cheap for a very good reason. Brendan |

For your opinon, I will just wait a little and then go with the BAS remap. I was mostly curious about if anyone here has bought one of these and if they are any good. But as you say, it can be really costly to go the cheap way for these things. I have read a lot about BAS and everyone seem to be happy about his or their service, so I´m will just go with it and be safe. http://www.defender2.net/gallery/index.php?cat=13451

Yes a good decision. I've got a BAS Remap and can remove or install it at will.....like if going to the stealer during warranty for example.
It really does do a good job especially when towing and I've not noticed any increased fuel consumption from being lead footed seeing off Tojos. Cheers. Alan. |

Have you considered Bluefin from Buckingham Superchips?
http://www.superchips.co.uk/search?make=17&fueltype=2&model=72&variant=2728 I have it on my 110 utility & my transit, the transit saves £25 per week on fuel over standard ecu format. Not sure what the defender will get as I haven't got through a tank yet. |
