Can't wait to go and really looking forward to the trip something I've wanted to do for a long time
John was in the 3rd airborne and dropped into Arnhem (bridge too far ) he's such a great man to listen too. So many stories and we are so lucky he's still so active and I even think he's looking forward to going in the defender but he did question why we aren't taking the FFRR LOL It's good to be back from the dark side DC110 -2012 Black with black hood and black x-tech FFRR 4.2 vogue Renault traffic auto PT crusier convertible Laika x700 Motorhome |

Well, if it fits your schedule and you want to re-live that period, see a paratroopers jump from C47's, see huge number of trucks/tanks/half-tracks/etc and/or are interested in re-enactment:
along the corridor that runs from the Dutch southern border all the way to Arnhem, there will be a base camp located just outside Veghel. They will have vehicles, tents, radio setup's, etc, just the way it was back then. You'll find more info here: http://omg2014.allunited.nl/index.php?page...menuid=248 Defender 130 HCPU Td5 MY2000 |

Sure, no problem! It's actually only about 5 miles from my house! My town is located at what was called 'the corridor'. The outskirts were a dropzone where gliders and paras landed. Each year on Sept 17, a C47 flies by and paras jump using the round canopy parachutes. Quite a few things in and around town still remind of those days. For instance, the street that was the main street of the corridor from Eindhoven to Nijmegen, has since been named correspondingly. We also have the Dutch translation of 'Airborne road' and 'Landing street' as well as several monuments (with names of those that gave their live in our town) and a house's facade still shows where the machine gun bullets impacted.
Anyway, they've begun setting up camp. Be sure to check the programm so you get to see what you came for as far as para droppings and re-enactments are concerned. I believe the camp will be there all of next week, but some of the vehicles may not be there all the time because they take part in parades, so check the schedule ok? Defender 130 HCPU Td5 MY2000 |
