2000 Defender 90 Td5 HT Epsom Green
I'm kicking myself. Just ordered a new car, I noticed that the freelander had been removed from my lists. I should have waited and got one of these as no other LR (apart from the Evoque which isn't big enough) is within my emissions limits. www.td5.org

o dear, so an evoke with a slightly higher back, but not quite as high as a Rangie. Slightly bigger than an Evoke, but not as big as a Rangie.
It doesn't look good for a replacement Defender if there is ever t be one. My Defender and travels

Although I'm more into the 'old' looking cars I quite like its design. and to be honest, I'm always glad when I can get back to my Defender (or Caterham), but once in a while I can even enjoy a comfortable car for a day.

I wouldn't have a problem if Land Rover would create a more modern looking Defender with a modern engine and some safety stuff in it, only to make it a affordable as a 'non commercial vehicle' in Holland. As long as it can be had with as little luxury as possible. Preferably a car that you can easily maintain yourself.

Looks like an evoque with a slightly higher back.

Same old same old from LR design studio.... Loving my clunky square G wagen more and more now!

Who would want that! I mean, for Gods sake it looks Fab, has safety features, is economical, costs no more than a Defender XS 110, will go anywhere, probably won't break down, ah but it might appeal to the masses and therefore useless for the rebelious counter culture image we all crave so let's diss it quick and hope LR care a hoot when designing the Defender replacement. Actually, not my cup of tea as Cheryl kept saying on Saturday, bet she would like one though (no pun intended)

It's OK, but I preferred it when each of the Land Rover models was clearly defined - without all the shared styling that the modern ones have. In the past each model had a specific market and use and clearly defined styling for each one. People who didn't have Land Rovers would be able to tell the difference and tell you want each one was, from a distance, without looking at the badges. Now they all look too similar and with undefined purposes. Land Rovers are supposed to have a purpose !!

We had an original 3 door Freelander which was very different to the other LR models and sold as a 'lifestyle' concept. Then with the Freelander 2 they changed it into a 'family car for people who can't afford a Discovery' sort of thing. Not entirely sure where this one fits at the moment. Seems like another rounded, modern 'car', rather than a proper Land Rover. But then for me the Evoque is a nice car but I still think it doesn't follow the proper Land Rover concept.

I guess the old Land Rover concept of having a 'model for all budgets and uses' had gone forever. Now its just down to how far up the range you can afford, not what use you will put it too. Crying or Very sad Our blog - http://landytravels.com/

At least they haven't wheeled out another non-celebrity like Mrs Beckham to claim credit for the design!!! Shocked
