We have just brought something into the UK from outside of the EU.

According to Parcel Force VAT is due on items over £15 if it is a purchase and on items over £36 if it is a gift between private individuals.

Now it is not only VAT payable, but possible custom duties and excise duties. Now VAT is payable on packaging. commission and shipping costs

Today it was only £13.50 (0% VAT) for Parcel Force handling fee. In the past we have paid £17.50 to Parcel Force for their handling fee.

It can be a bit of a lottery if you get charged VAT or not.

I just got charged £3.52 admin(?) by DHL for the bar I ordered from Aus, but it seemed it was shipped from Hong Kong...

So, do I fit the light to the A bar or to the roll cage...?

I currently have a couple of Hella spots on the A bar, so was thinking of putting the LED bar on the roll cage.

DHL Manchester airport charged us £35 for the privilege of using their VAT account. Then there was the nice charge from the airline for handling costs. Transport to the UK was paid for but that was where the plane landed..

DHL Manchester over the Pennines to Gods only county was £600 for 10 boxes each weighing about 10kg. Yes I did get my passport out and go went and collected them!

Yes you might get away with next to nothing charges there again you may get hit with all sorts of charges.

Well I did.

£32 on top of the shipping cost already paid.

Invoice from TNT a few weeks after it arrived.

Can't see that I have any form of contract with them but even so. 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop
Now a 2013 110 USW too.
