When I fitted these steps to mine I seem to remember not needing to use the supplied new rivnut as the one for the normal step was already there. That said it took me hours to fit them as I am mechanically incompetent so others who know better will be along in a minute.

A suitable 'rivnut' with the correct thread will suffice. If you go for OEM you'll still need the tool depicted in the left corner of the pictures to fit it.

Your local engineering / fastener supplies place will be able to provide you with a handful for very little money. Steve.
