there's loads on here about people adding 2 stroke oil to the fuel and those that do advocate it - not sure I've seen mention of anyone having had trouble as a result. I have myself. do a search and I'm sure you'll find loads under '2SO' - fun reading. |

Why would you want to do that. Just put good quality fuel in your tank I would say.....
Oh dear, what have I started now again? Time to look for my hat.... You never actually own a Defender. With my TD5, I used to burn my old engine oil. Every spring, I would change the oil in 3 cars, my motorbike, and the lawn mowers, and would have around 20-25 litres of old oil.
Before that, I would have driven to the council recycling place, burning a couple of litres of diesel, and put it in the big tank. However I bought a straining "sock" like this: Filtered all the old oil into a very clean bucket, decant into 1-litre bottles, and put a litre into every tankful of diesel... Saved £30 on fuel every year I've not tried old engine oil yet in the Puma (but I do use 2so). My TD5 was running very well at 187,000 miles, so no damage done. I must get round to mixing some 2so and derv in a clear bottle and see how it compares to doing the same with old oil.....nkt too bothered about filtering it first as I hav a fuel filter for that
Someone mentioned they used to do the same on a old car..... me thinks it's a good idea on various accounts -then what do I know.? |

I would say putting engine in diesel will cause soot and carbon built up
