Which shocks for a 90 pickup??
Am new to the world of 90's so need some advice. I bought a lovely 06 plate pickup last weekend and am going to start by putting new shocks on to sort out the appauling ride. I am after advice from people who have actually fitted different shocks to a 90 pick up or hard top about what is best to fit. I will be using the vehicle for farm tracks, a bit of greenlaning, road use and the odd play day so I don't need to go crazy with reservoir dampers etc but I do need a decent road ride.
I have fitted De Carbon shocks to my lifted 110 but am completely new to the 90 territory. I was really pleased with the ride quality as control from them.

Help!!

I will be doing my 07 Hardtop 90 soon as i find the ride a bit choppy on standard shocks as well
the ones i have narrowed it down to are Bilstien HD yellow shocks also i am going to fit there steering damper as well.
I fitted this setup to my 300tdi Discovery and it made i a completly different vehicle to drive.

When are you fitting them and can you please let me know feedback on how they perform and react to the road. I really need to get my ride sorted so I can get on with the other non essential bits!!!

Where did you order them from and what was the best price you found?

I would be interested to hear from anyone else who has experiene from other manufacturers and also anyone who has any comparative experience.

I have fitted Koni adjustable shocks to mine two years ago, and find them very good. My set up is more road based, as it is my work van, and for my overlanding with roof tent, but it does a LOT of off road stuff and does well, even tho I have the anti roll bars fitted.

One of the 90's that I lane with have just had a VERY VERY nice set from Gwyn Lewis, and it is top notch. Slight lift but MASSIVE drop out so never looses traction. About £1000 tho. Gwyn supplies the parts you fit he then checks over and adjust for you.

This is quite apealing to me, but I think it will involve loosing my anti roll bar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope this is some help

Andy

I suspect that the reason your 90 has an appauling ride, is that it's a pickup, so not much weight over the rear axle, yet its got the suspension capable of carrying nigh on a ton of weight.

IF you loaded the back of your 90 up things would improve dramatically, that, or fit softer springs, something like a rangerover classic rear spring.

I usually run OME dampers, and sometimes OME springs too, these have always served me well and i like the way the vehicle handles on them.

All I can say (I have a 110") Rough Country are softer than OE and cheap. I have Rancho which are adjustable and about the double of RCountry. Puma 110" SW
