Rear projections: Up to 1m overhang, no special requirements. Between 1m and 2m, ends must be "clearly visible". Between 2m and 3.05m, ends must be marked with approved marker boards, side marker boards required. Over 3.05m, two clear days notice to police, full marker boards, plus an attendant required.
Front projection: Up to 2m, no special requirements. Between 2m and 3.05m, marker boards and attendant required. Above 3.05m, same requirements as for 3.05+ rear projection. Remember these are projections beyond the ends of the vehicle (or trailer) on which the load is carried, so your scaffold pole could extend 2m in front of the front bumper and 2m behind the vehicle. Loaded sensibly a 20' pole should be no problem, but you may need to support the front. |

Like a lot of things not a straightforward answer.
Have a look here Assuming a 110 of overall length 4.6m then 8.6m is possible OK inform police have attendants etc then 10.6 m possible. 20 feet = 6.1 metres so on a 110 or a 90 no problem. However make sure ends are clearly visible. High vis jackets are good and try to balance overhung out. Brendan PS Ooops BW types faster then me |

A quick read of the C&U regs suggests also that if you had a rear-overhanging load on your roofrack and hitched a trailer on the back, even though the load is not supported on the trailer, it would be the rear projection beyond the rear of the trailer that matters, not from the vehicle.
Remember whatever you do it must not present a danger to anyone and must not overload the vehicle. Usual disclaimer applies. |

Cheers chaps. Looks like a 20ft scaff pole is doable with a 110 (with the addition of some hiviz markers either end)
Now, just need one more and plan will coming together 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |
