I've got a 1999 TD5 - must be one of the first TD5's since it was reg'd on 1/3/1999.
It's a 90CSW with Traction Control and ABS. All is fine with it, but - in wet/damp weather the Traction Control & ABS lights won't go out. The TC and ABS don't function either at that point. It can sometimes be cured by stopping and switching everything off - but this isn't fun to do and doesn't often work. Anyone any ideas as to why this happens and is there a simple cure? Is it as I suspect down to the wheel sensors and the cable connections? If so how can you test these? Thanks, Muddy One Land Rover is luxury, Two is just showing off... Hi I am having t/c problems also. It may be worth looking at the fusable link in the fuse box under the drivers seat, I know if you take this out it disables t/c and abs and the hand brake, t/c and abs lights stay on.It could be that its not screwed down tightly (watch you don't drop the smallscrew in the seat box) Its a bit of a long shot but it might to remove one variable.

Muddy,
I had the same symptoms a couple of weeks ago - ABS/TCS light on and ABS/TCS kicking in at odd times. I gave all the areas around the wheel sensors a good hosing down with brake cleaner and it's all back working fine. Half the sand from the Suffolk Land Rover Club site also fell out...that could have had something to do with it....!! 15 min job - no cost involved. Cheers, Le Rodent Noir. |
