Removal of bonded rear sliding windows
Is there a guide anywhere for the removal and refit of the bonded rear sliding windows on a Puma SW?

I want to remove the glass to fit window tints but cannot find a 'how to' guide for the bonded sets of windows only for the previous riveted style.

Any guidance or tips would be greatly appreciated Thumbs Up

Jim it's quite a mammoth task just to tint your windows with inherrent risks as the frames themselves are bonded and there is a risk of damaging them on removal. I had mine done fitted and they did a great job without the requirement for removal.
When I eventually swapped them out for Landyglass another forum member wanted the windows. The fitter had a ba5t4rd of a job getting them out.

Just a thought to avoid possible grief. Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

I have tried to find a fitter that will tint them in 'situ' but so far they have all been £400+ Shocked

For £450ish Masai had a kit to replace the glass with factory tinted glass instead of film. It seemed like a good idea until i started investigating the effort in removing the glass from the rear sliders!

Can I ask who did your tints in-situ? Were they able to do the bit around the catch where the two windows overlay?

Here is a YouTube video from Garisons Outfitters how to install the replacement window channel. To do this you have to remove and reinstall the complete window, so this shows how to to this. Indeed it's a lot of work! Shocked Cheers, Vincent

Thanks for the video link. Unfortunately thats only for the older riveted style sliding windows not the bonded in windows that the Puma has.

I've been told cheese wire, stanley knives and lots of patience. I just wondered if there was a step by step guide out there.

Hi Jim

I recently had mine done at Pentagon Autotint, they completed the work in situ and did an amazing job. A few places I contacted wanted me to remove the sliding glass and the alpine lights and refit for them, not a job for the faint hearted!!

There are good guys out there, try your local LR dealer they'll have someone who does this for them!!

I too had to shop around as several insisted the windows had to come out which is rubbish.

I paid a little less but that was 6 years ago. The catches are removed and the film is applied wet and then dried. With care they can be done in situ and to a great standard. My branch was in Bournemouth which isn't much use to you. Nevertheless they are a National Company.....5 year warranty given too.

Autoglaze. They do have a branch in Stoke On Trent apparently. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
