Exactly the same symptons as I just had with my project90.
Cracked head. ![]() ![]() It steadily got worse. start the engine and the top coolant hose would be rock solid in about 15 seconds. Then if I put my foot down, it would blow out the top of the expansion tank. Then it burst a hose, and blew another one off the radiator. I changed the head then. all seems good now with a replacement head. On the plus side, it's quite easy to change the heads over on Td5's. |

Thanks, D.J. I suspected as much. Guess the son and I will replace the head. Any recommendations for a good manual to follow, and a good parts supplier? Would be nice to have a comprehensive list of everything I need so I can buy everything together and then just get it done.

I'd 2nd that request - a good 'head swap' guide would be deeply appreciated ...

Hi all,
This thread has me thinking ( ![]() So, how much pressure in a cold expansion chamber is too much pressure and a sympton of a problem? Thanks. |

Mine held pressure & occasionally I could hear bubbling but couldn't see them, eventually it started to use coolant (very small amounts) then eventually did the same as diesel Jim's.

from Turner & Co. They had it here in only 2 days. Was going to install it myself last weekend, but never got the time. A local garage will have it starting tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of a difference it makes, having a head that doesn't leak. I've come to the conclusion mine has leaked since I got it, a year or so ago.

A thread back from the dead - but finally got mine into a garage, and the head gasket it going. The head is off to be tested.
Expensive day to the workshop. |
