Looks superb. Curious undersides on the WMIK - maybe blast protection? Can't really see the MOD going for an ECU-controlled engine, unless anyone knows any different? My blog - www.anacreinhampshire.blogspot.co.uk

From the photos the ECU is in the same position like ours

Not to be funny......BUT......... none of those pictures quite add up.

For example:
1st picture... Isn't fitted with the WMIK roll cage and has under windscreen vents.
2nd Picture... Rifles are the SA80A1 which wnt out of service 4 years ago.
3rd Picture... Has under windscreen vents and also has the '110' storage bin covers, 110 steering guard and no AC.
4th Picture... Running on the XCLs, where the Army don't use them on any vehicles other than the old 110s.
5th Picture... Looks genuine.
6th Picture... Doesn't really show anything.
7th Picture... as before, Under windscreen vents, 110 storage bin covers, not a WMIK cage, no AC, XCLs, Winch bumper and most interesting is the fact it has the belly plate (standard on all WMIKs and Snatch) but hasn't got the bulkhead protectors.
8th Picture... 110 roof (can't fit a wolf cage under it), doesn't have split doors... all the others have.
9th Picture... Same as problems above^^

I would say that these are either 'home made' or for issue to foreign countries. The MOD won't have any problems with ECU as 90% of the vehicles we have now have ECUs.... the reason they didn't go Td5 was because the engine wasn't electronically suppressed so it caused HUGE problems with comms. I am sure timne will tell on us getting something similar to the above.

P.S. Sorry about the negativity towards the pictures.

Crikey, someone certainly knows there stuff Wink

if LR are developing prototypes would they get the Army in to have a play with the different options for 1st hand opinion? If those Tyres were stopped 4-yrs ago I guess that would fit in with early PUMA mules & maybe also explain the bulkhead vents, if LR SYARTED out with just an engine change, then decided to also modify the bulkhead as a result of testing/Market demands.

Don't military Defenders also have those funny wing top air intakes as well? These seem to have nothing extra or a snorkel.

They are 2 of the 3 passions in my life...... my job and my car.....the third passion is the gf and I am glad she isn't in any of those pictures Smile

They could be like Frankensteins monster and just where LR has taken a load of older (Pre 2001) military defenders, dropped in a TDCi lump and done a few modifications to get countries interested in the new product.

Pom, Loads of UK forces use LHD vehicles. Most places there are conflicts and also in Germany driving is on the R/H side of the road.
