Well as luck would have it, I have managed to remove the remaining bolt ends. I purchased this from Machine Mart
http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/...xtractor-s Drilled into the remaining bolts and with a left hand thread on the extractor the studs came out without fuss, except one, that wanted to go in further as I drilled it. All remaining bolt ends out, cleaned up the holes and fitted a new gasket and new flange bolts tightend to 65nm torque in a star pattern and job done. When I found the sheared bolts it was the Sunday before I went away and not having time to research fully, I ended up ordered bits from Lloyds LR in Carlise, ordered a new Hub, a 52mm Sealey socket, a 13mm 1/2" drive multipoint socket and a 9/16th multipoint socket to find all I needed was a new gasket and 5 bolts. When I looked at the hub, it looked like the holes for the flange bolts was threaded all the way. They are not - hence the purchase of a new hub!!! But on the plus side, while I had the wheel off, I noticed I needed new rear brake pads. Cheers all. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Not sure on the thread size but the part numbers if you decide to buy new are BX110095M and cost me £4.50+VAT from dealer (the bolts came pre-impregnated with adhesive The gasket between the flange and hub is part number 571752 and cost me a whopping £0.98+VAT again from the main dealer Edit: On the invoice it shows the the bolt as M10 x 45 but not sure on the thread. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Thanks excossack. From memory I think they may be metric fine. When I get round to removing mine, I'll get the thread gauge on them and post the exact specs.

I think that they're 3/8" UNF but I'll have to check. I have a box of grade 10.9 hex socket head capscrews that I use on mine, and I'll try to remember to measure on tomorrow or Monday.

sure the flange bolts are m10x1.5
prop bolts are 3/8unf |

Checked, deffo ISO M10 x 1.5mm pitch, standard metric coarse series, ie a bog standard normal M10 thread. The only unusual feature is that they're grade 10.9, not the usual 8.8. Normal hex socket head capscrews (what many people completely incorrectly call "Allen bolts") are 10.9 and much cheaper than the bolts from LR, and will do the job just as well. Unlike the hex head bolts, the SHCs also don't gouge your alloys if you're using spacers.

I used 571752 which is the gasket but had to cut a hole for the ABS sensor. Is there a gasket with the hole already there?

FTC3650. Is this what you need? Not a flange gasket but for the stub axle, the only one that I could think of which has an additional hole for the ABS sensor I started with nothing and still have most of it left! |
