They're a great package. I sometimes even resort to using my wife's F2 for load carrying (the load bay is much more flexible than a Defender's - especially if you've installed the cargo barrier).
Lovely to drive and it seems to handle snow and ice very well. I've not had cause to take it onto lanes yet but I'm sure it would do very well (limited by ground clearance, of course). Ours is an automatic and I have to say it is a pleasure to drive - it almost drives itself. Our friends keep asking my wife if she's used to driving such a big car yet but she points out that it doesn't feel big at all - just very safe. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

When we had the td4.e it was getting between 39 - 45 so if yours is new, maybe it needs to bed in.
The F2 are great. If money improves and i can be bothered ill exchange the disco for one: in the mean time ill just use the family one when needed Mike |

Have to say I have had approx. nine Freelanders in the past and think they are an amazingly capable veicle. They are what I did a majority of my off-roading in. With a 40-50mm lift and a set of MTs they are pretty good. Being light helpy you skip over stuff too.
In comparison the Fl2 does seem larger/heavier. The turning circle is amazing compared to both the original Freelander and my Defender. But a Defender and Focus suit our needs very well for the time being |
