First trip in Aussie D90
Recently took the Beastie Girl on a 3 week trip and thought I would share just a few phots:

Beside trans-continental railway line between Euabalong West and Roto, NSW. Asdjacent to Nombinnie Nature Reserve


Leopard Wood tree near Ivanhoe, NSW


Pearl Blue-bush between Iron Knob and Mt Ive Station, Gawler Ranges, SA


Western Myall between Iron Knob and Mt Ive Station, Gawler Ranges, SA


Gawler Ranges, Mt Ive Station, SA


Lake Gairdiner (with water, normally dry salt lake). Mt Ive Station, Gawler Ranges, SA


Lienerts - Woolford Track, Pinkawillinie Conservation Park, SA


Oldman Triodia, Buckleboo Stock Route, Pinkawillinie Conservation Park, SA. Much of the park has been burn over recent years

very nice pics and very jealouse, looks like your traveling solo, if so what sort of comm's do you have and can you always get contacts if something iffy happens ? or am i being a big girly and that is part of the aussie adventure?

Couple of questions asked:

How hot does it get?
Average summer temperature over much of the area represented by the photographs would be close to 35°C with an average annual rainfall around 250 mm. Certainly not as hot and dry as much of Dubai but not like Land Rover's Mother England.

What comms did I have?
Just a mobile phone that generally only worked when I climbed to the top of the higher hills. This was really more than adequate and allowed me to contact my kids about ever third or fourth day. I am planning on a UHF radio but that is not really useful for long range communication. I did carry a PLB (Personal Location Beacon) (GME AccuSat Pocket PRO+ MT410G) if we ever had a real life threatening emergency. And yes, my friend Chris and I just traveled solo in one vehicle. The longest we went without seeing another vehicle was 3 days though over one 5 day stretch we only saw two vehicles. The longest stretch of dirt road (excluding crossing a couple of bitumen roads was about 400 km.
