For 5k You can find a very very nice 200Tdi 110.
For £4000 you will probably find a good one, which needs a few things fixing. I got mine for about £4000 and have had to replace the rear cross member and am now getting the bulkhead replaced. One comment I will make however, if you have to choose between rusty bulkhead or rusty chassis, go for rusty chassis because it is a hell of a lot cheaper to replace a chassis then a bulkhead. Take your time, there are loads of them out there it is a matter of waiting for a good one and going to see it. if you turn up and they are a bit dubious about you giving the chassis a good tap with a hammer or going for a test drive then treat it suspiciously. Good luck with the hunt! |

Thanks guys. It will be a while yet, I'm away with work at the moment. I've been looking for a while, but the mix of trucks and prices seems to vary quite widely.
I have seen your truck g-Mack. I'm pretty envious to be honest! If anybody sees something tidy, let me know! Cheers jason |

I thought disc brake rear axle came with the intro of the 300 Tdi. Could well be wrong though. 2005 Td5 90 XS

Cheers gents! I think I may favour a 300tdi in that case.
My last 110 was a 1986 vintage and I rather despised the drums on the back of that! I know I could most likely about changing the rear axle, however I would prefer not too since my workshop is 60 miles from my bed! Jason |

Fitting a disco1 rear axle is a simple mod to get disc brakes on a 200tdi 90. Mine has disco axles front and rear.

A disco axle is NOT rated for the weight of a 110. Fine on a 90 though.
Yes, the disc brakes were introduced with the 300 Tdi, however because Land Rover tended to use what they had lying around in stores, and because it's easy enough to convert them with OEM parts (I've done it on my 2.5 NA petrol), it doesn't mean you won't find a 200 Tdi 110 with disc brakes. Just make sure it's not a disco conversion - google images for 'Salisbury axle' - this is what should be fitted. In fact, I'd look for a truck with a good chassis and bulkhead, and if it's not on discs on the rear, budget £300-odd to do the conversion, or £500-odd to have it done... Good luck with your search! Thanks for that. Top bit of info there.
When something pops up, I'm sure I'll be along with more questions. All I'm after is a tidy wagon I can use locally to bimble around in, with a bit of green laning thrown in. Jason |
