Supacat,
I went to this one earlier this year and whilst the autojumble and the house and grounds were excellent the Land Rover part was utter pants and I will not be attending again. This one may be better though and wouldn't take much to be so. Will have to check what's on but may take a trip as it's not far for me. http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic28754.html?highlight=sodbury Be interesting to hear feedback from last year's. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

I am talking about two different events, both Land Rover related and both at the same venue.. Nevertheless I was grossly disappointed in the Sodbury one. The marketing did an excellent job at depicting something it most certainly wasn't.
The grounds and house made up for the shortcomings but I've seen them now, hence feedback is important on this one so time and money wouldn't be wasted. . Sorry for any confusion.....
May was the international autojumble and Sodbury turnout. I went to Beaulieu that day for the Land Rover aspect and it was rubbish. To revisit on another day I would need assurances based on previous experience from people who have attended this particular event that it will be good, irrespective of the fact that it is a different theme, no autojumble but at the same venue. autojumble is good (but no good if you only go for land rover bit !) / land rover bit waste of time
never been to the simply land rover thing but they do have simply ford/vaushall etc days all though the year and think they have few clubs / trade stands to do with each make on the day , but im sure its more drive in-park up and look at other land rovers . somewhere to meet up really the sodbury sort out was big when it was at sodbury then newbury but when it changed to bealieu most stayed at newbury now called newbury 4x4 and on twice a year |

A Good Day Out...
Not Beaulieu… but the Newbury Agricultural Show, if you like this sort of thing, is a good day out, some proper old and new big kit, plus loads more… 20th – 21st September. This year, I think, there are plans for a ‘4X4 Village’, Land Rover & 4X4 / LR Specialists. I will try to find out more and update... http://www.newburyshowground.co.uk/ SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

I went to Simply Land Rover last year. It was a nice enough, quite freindly....BUT.... bit is really only worth going if you want a day at the Motor Museum. If you do, then it is a good day out, you get to park on a nice lawn next to the museum and save a few £ on admission. If you have been round the museum recently and/or aren't fussed then I wouldn't bother TBH because there was only really the parked body of Lrs to look at and a good proportion were non enthusiast owned Freelanders and Discoveries, there were no trade stand or events, though there was a forest off road drive available at extra cost. All this said it was the first one so this years may be bigger and better.
Worth going once I think, but I will give it a miss this year. |
