I ordered a couple of genuine rubber front axle seals just to keep them stock. instead I got (via Royal mail) britpart parts. The sales person answered: "These seals are now the genuine specification. We don't keep these seals in stock, I got these in for you".

The "G" on the end of the part number from britpart means its a OE part. So its made by the same people that make the part for land rover but it doesnt have the packaging or the 1 year guarantee that a proper land rover part has.

After my complain email I got this answer:
"Hi There. Thank you for email. These oil seals we have supplied, thow they are in a Britpart bag, they should be the same manufacture as Landrover - would supply. We have had no issue with these seals in any way to with quailty. Hope this is ok for you. Kind Regards" For sure, when any seal breaks, I will be "Oh sir, you are the first customer bla-bla-bla" Puma 110" SW ............................................................. Earth first. Note the expression 'should be the same manufacture' NOT 'is' the same manufacturer using same quality of materials etc Yes the G suffix should mean a genuine part Now is the G suffix just on the invoice or is it on the packaging as well? IF it is not on the packaging I would be telling them where to go as that would be fraud/deception in my book Brendan |

I am not very happy with my recently purchased Britpart G startermotors (bosch) brought under NAD500210G (for a 300tdi). One failed in 6 months and when dismantled had a date stamp on the casing of "94". Other items lead me to think that it could have been a recon. The telling sign were the additional mis-aligned punch numbers and letters on the casing that a bosch motor out of a Land Rover box does not have. So could it be same manufacture but recon and still be britpart G?

The supplier has now confirmed that the starter motors brought under NAD500210G for a 300tdi in Britpart Boxes are factory recon units from Bosch. Can you believe it? Will you ever trust Britpart G again???

Unless they are sold as reconditioned units then I think trading standards should be informed In my opinion that is fraud/deception. Presumably you were charged the same price for a second hand unit(reconditioned or not it is still second hand/previously used/prior owned or whatever is the current in vogue phrase with second hand car salesman) then you are entitled to a brand new unit.
