Same old, same old. I've said it before and I'll say it again, until Land Rover unveil the final design to the great unwashed other than what has been shown of the the DC100 there is little in the way of material substance to go on. Steve.

...or since they introduced that pesky synchromesh you could replace the driver and passenger windscreens [separately mind you] just by undoing a few self tapping screws Thud Steve.

Five days now, and counting, and still 'Steve bull' hasn't been back on his own thread to assure us he isn't a plant. Now left.

I am not sure the rot didn't start when LR began fitting indicators as standard, or maybe that unnecessary second wiper. Possibly even when the little ring-pull on the floor was replaced by a yellow knob!

I suspect that many of the younger (ie under 50) folk on this forum don't remember the red and yellow knobs, let alone the original full-time 4WD with freewheel of the early 80s. Perhaps we should start a "boring old farts' nostalgia" thread to match the GOM thread!

Cant have that Wink , Im well under and my first motor was a beautiful original restored series 3, best first car I could have had and I would say the only car id love to buy back now, all my mates loved it to Thumbs Up that was freewheeling hubs, overdrive and all.
Taught me a lot about driving and cars, which back on topic I suspect the new Defender never will. Defender puma dormobile camper

Cough, cough, splutter, i'm still comfortably under fifty but remember the red and yellow knobs perfectly! I owned my first Series III at 18 - a 2.25 diesel, just to prove the hairiness of my shirt Laughing Darren

Absolutely not. You'd have to be really old to remember those! Darren

Isn't the point of concepts to get discussion going? Besides, we have now been told that the unit being demoed more publicly is close to the DC100.

(And no, I don't honestly believe this was a 'mole', as some have claimed)

Setok, agreed the point is to get discussion going and there has been a lot on here already. But as with all discussion not everyone has to have the same opinion we are all individuals and we want the right the have babies.

I am sure the new defender will be a great, will be a sales success and will take the brand in new directions. I personally like the DC100, but I am not sure I would be queuing up to buy one, hence the reason for ordering one of the last of the current defenders, which I have every intention of keeping till it or I die!!

Conceptually I see the new defender as a short wheelbase, lower spec discovery 5, which I guess could be the reason for the delay in producing the new model - they have to develop the new disco first to then use the technology for the defender?

One final point, the guy who started this thread did not really make too many friends... started the thread by saying he has seen something that he could not tell us about, then got the hump when we didn't ask loads of questions he was not allowed to answer.
