A real relic-The VHF radio is a Pye Cambridge remote mount-they were 10 years out of production when I served my time with Pye Telecom 40 years ago.

The Austin Champ had independent suspension, not the Gypsy. Early ones had some kind of rubber front suspension but that didn't last long and most had leaf sprung suspension and beam axles just like the contemporary Land Rover of the time. 2011 110 USW

Interesting as I have never seen one with the rubber stuff! It could be that the LWB had mixed suspension, ie leafs back, rubber front, but late ones definitely dropped the rubber stuff. According to this - http://www.austinmemories.com/page65/page65.html from 1962 the rubber suspension was optional, and the lwb did indeed have leafs on the back as standard. 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

And it's fitted with an old SEV Marchal beacon. They had a single fixed bulb around which rotated a couple of clear magnifying lenses in the same manner as the Federal Signal Junior Beacon Ray and Whelen Rota Beam lights.
