Not really, I could do a huge post about the questions..
You had to review several cars, on look, interior, head room, storage etc. Cars where.. Landcruiser, Audi a7, range rover sport, new discovery...(looks horrible) and the new defender. Thing is I would never by the new version, but based against the completion there today I would.. Read into that what you will. Entry price for basic model was mentioned at £38 000........ |

Do you mean that there is a definite design for the new Defender? Pictures? Or at least a description of what you were shown? You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

So after so many people telling us not to get worried, "It's just a concept", that's what we're getting? Plus, at a nice 'premium' price, which Land Rover really loves these days, but which thus completely does away with Land Rover's original and traditional market. Could someone remind me why we were supposed to be excited about this? |

I would say it will never be a classic .
never be class-less . loaded with electric crap so won't be be worth a toss after few years . you won't be able to modify because of the new regs . it will be a old model after a couple of years when another new shape comes out . doubt it will be bolt together so you won't be able to repair yourself . |

There's nothing new in this thread. So, I agree with your comment, "why we are suposed to get excited"?.....because it's impossible to get excited about anything, unless you know what it is,.....and, at this stage, we have NO IDEA. Pickles. |

I've just got back from an afternoon at the same venue.
My thoughts are: 1/ I don't like the look of the new Discovery Sport and can not see where it really fits in in the LR line up. I voted it second from last. 2/ From what I saw of the mock up vehicle for the Defender replacement it appears to be a much more everyday user friendly vehicle, and will offer safety, on and off road performance, comfort and economy that the current Defender lacks. 3/ it looks as if automatic versions will be offered hooked up to the 3.0L SDV6 engine, along with a 2.0L TDi version. 4/ I like the look of the short and long wheelbase models, and am happy that they will be instantly recognisable as "proper Land Rovers" 5/ It will have height adjustable suspension available. 6/ I am currently driving a RRS2, but am that taken by the Defender replacement that I have this afternoon placed a refundable deposit with my local LR dealership for one when they are launched. The current defender was good in its day, but it is now time to change. In its current guise it just can't compete with a modern 4X4 vehicle either on or off road. I know that this will upset folk on here, but these are just my thoughts and observations. Jim |

Is it the DC100 thing then?
Sounds like they have paid you to try and bring us all round to it Jim By the sounds of it then it will be a great vehicle but nothing special, think ill keep the one I have. We'll just have to wait and see when its more official I suppose Defender puma dormobile camper |

The current Defender is at least as-good on road as any transit type van I have driven, and in fact is nicer than the 56 plate IVECO 6.5t I am driving at the moment.
Then again Land Rover don't give a about the utility market anymore do they? £38K starting price, total idiocy, no business is going to buy that. Just done a quick check and I can buy a new VW Amarok for just over £24K OTR. What on earth are they thinking at JLR? 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" Last edited by 22900013A on 23rd Jun 2014 5:52pm. With the diversity of people on this defender based forum, is it just me that finds it strange that the two people who have seen the new defender have recently joined and seem to be very coy on details? Maybe I'm just being too suspicious in thinking its Landrover trying to butter us up
