As I booked the nice 4x4 summer weekend (18-20 Juli) in Brecon Beacons National Park, I'm also looking for some nice scenery roads afterwards. Can be a bit further into Wales but also in the opposite direction as I need to catch the train in Folkstone somewhere in the the evening on 23 July.
Especially as I'm travelling with the family I'm not after a 4x4 challenge. Just nice scenery will do. Would love to visit small villages in between if possible. Would prefer campsites above a hotel, but as I haven't got my dogs with me time a hotel wouldn't mean the end of the world for me. Was hoping some of you have a couple of ideas for me to work out? |

Thanks Vincent. It's high on my list, although I also read from some you shouldn't be going alone.
I do have to say I'm normally a careful driver who doesn't mind getting out of the car for a thorough look before I drive up or down a track. |

I'd not be doing Happy Valley in an immaculate 130, not unless it has been significantly upgraded since I last drove over. As far as lanes in Wales I can sort you out before you leave the farm Allan. It would be nice if you could maybe drive some of the lanes in Wiltshire or the Chilterns on your drive back across England. Unfortunately I have no info on which ones are open and in good, non-scratchy condition.

Fair point, never tried getting a 130 past that rock at the beginning. |

Thanks all for the help so far. Really appreciate it!
Would love that Mark. The most exciting modification on my 130 is the fridge full of beer. Fairly standard car Not sure if the snorkel is arrives in time but I don't intend to go way deep. I ordered it for emergencies and in preparation to a have the air intake raised for a trip to Africa one day. I'm trying to do some holidays and round trips to see what works and what needs improvement, always with a 'travel light philosophy' in my mind. I'm not to worried about a light scratch of the paintwork as it will happen eventually. I just don't want to dent the bodywork. Also I'm with the family so to keep the risk down seems logical. I'll probably remove the tow bar before I leave as I lost track of the times I've been stuck because of that since I got the car last year. |
