revers into anything, even lightly? Perhaps the bolts holding the loading bed have rattled loose or fallen out.

Take a look at the fixings there is a row across the back and one either side at the front.

My loadbed is ever so slightly more to the right side. They are never 100% perfectly lined out, I think?

Well, I did not reverse to anything and had a look at the bolts. In the front it looks like there is space (hole is larger than bolt) to move the loading bed backwards. At the back I cannot find where the loading bed can be adjusted.
I cannot find anything else that can produce the annoying sound and when I put pressure on a crowbar between the loading bed and the cabine I hear the same sound. 2021 Defender 110 D300 HSE |

Slacken the rear bolts they are a 10mm bolt in a 13mm hole, there are also shims or packers that go between the chassis and the tub fixing brackets.

I don't think he has them. Our loadbed can't be bolted down to the chassis because of the tax system.

Like I said. You don't want to pay an extra fee of about 15.000 euro buying a 130 and you don't want to pay around 2.000 extra road tax every year.
In theory we need to be able to lift the bed of the truck without tools. At least now I know the purpose of those brackets. It's been a busy day. If I don't forget I'll try to have a look at my own car tomorrow. |

Well, my 130 has the bolts as shown on the picture (but it still is tax-friendly) and yesterday I slackened all the bolts: absolutely no movement at all. I even removed all the items in the back including the spare wheel to get rid of extra weight. What am I doing wrong?! 2021 Defender 110 D300 HSE

When I removed the bed from my 130 I foung the front "holders" broken inside. The brekage was not starting from the edge of the holder. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "BlufĂnek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo

Interesting KJMeijer. I've been told my loadbed hasn't been fixed this way because I'd otherwise have a welded piece of metal on the tailgate to shorten the the usability of the loadbed by approximately 30 centimeters. Would make the car rather useless for my needs.
Checked the spacing, but on both sides the loadbed sits at the same distance as the cabin. If the loadbed really touches the cabin, shouldn't there be scraped off paint? Your problem might be something else? |

I have that "welded piece of metal on the tailgate", in fact it is made of aluminium. Not very handy.....
There is no paint damage but I simply cannot find anything else that can produce the sound. In the next few weeks I will go for MOT and wil let the garage have a look at it. 2021 Defender 110 D300 HSE |
