I have a Motorhome based on a 2010 Mk7 Transit Cab.
I'm looking for electrics to use the pre-wired "trailer socket". The photo below shows the 16-pin "trailer socket" that I've located, which needs a good clean but is working fine. Both the fuses and relays are installed in the fuse boxes and I've checked the socket and the pins indeed do work along with the all the lights. The photo also shows two other 2-pin sockets that I'm not sure are needed or not for the tow bar. These 2-pins could just be other things not needed on this build. Has anyone got any information about these sockets and know if I can just connect straight into this socket or does it need some sort of loom with controllers. I'm guessing that if Ford has made the effort to fit it out with "trailer electrics" I can simply just make my own loom to connect into it and then onto a 13 pin (trailer has reversing lights) socket. Every place I speak to just tries to sell me a bypass relay kit which is pointless when the pre-wiring is there. As usual, thanks in advance. This is the confusion. That part number is not the factory pre-wire.
It's a bypass relay kit which I'm trying to avoid. If the factory fit pre wire is installed it connects into Canbus and can even change the power delivery and change TV etc. Craig Rogers 2007 Puma 110 XS 2011 Evoque Coupe Dynamic Lux www.craigrogers.photography |
