Having spent a considerable amount of money on an Autologic tune as explained due to the 'anti tamper gismo' I think AJS 4X4 may be looking for a viable solution to his problem not criticism or questioning of his decision. Hindsight is indeed a wonderful trait and if I could wind back time I would consider a BAS remap. Autologic was my decision and £450 later I would most certainly not consider a further bucket of cash to switch to BAS as the decision had already been made.
AJS 4X4 I do not have the answer either but you could always contact them directly.... http://www.autologic-diagnostics.com/contact.htm Autologic are constantly developing their softwares and if you have a problem I am sure they would like to know about it and may even provide you with a solution. As a footnote with my Autologic remap I did not suffer from the same affliction but you will have a later version. If you've got the time and the inclination they're only about an hours drive or so away from you. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

AUTOLOGIC WHERE'S MY ANSWER?????
I have had recent issues with the loss of my remap and sent the following e-mail to Autologic direct, I was polite and courteous and thought that they may have had the common decency to reply! The e-mail below was sent nearly two weeks ago...... To Whom It May Concern, I am the owner of a 2008 Land Rover Defender 2.4 TDCI, some time ago I paid a well-known independent Land Rover specialist in ********* a considerable amount of money for my ECU to be upgraded with your remap. The difference was phenominal in comparison to standard and I was more than happy with the result. Prior to my decision to have an Autologic upgrade I had carried out extensive investigation to determine what was the best option available to me! I had also queried if it was possible to revert back to standard and/or have it reinstalled in the event of an 'overwrite' by the dealers. I was informed that this would not be an issue as any Autologic dealers would be able to reinstall it for me free of charge. Over a month ago I had some warranty work carried out whereupon my Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve was replaced and the standard ECU software together with any updates were reinstalled by the main dealers, as a result my Autologic remap was 'lost.' My independent is now informing me when I periodically telephone him on a fortnightly basis that due to a 'Q068' anomoly in the standard Land Rover software this makes the Autologic upgrade non-compatable. Having paid in the region of £500 I am obviously concerned that my money may have been wasted and I will not get my remap reinstalled and secondly frustrated at losing the added performance and economy your upgrade offered. Can you please clarify exactly what the situation currently is and inform me if I am ever likely to have your programme reinstalled. My independent informed me just today that even new Land Rover customers for your upgrade are being turned away due to the incompatability. My return e-mail address is: ********** Thank you. Regards Mal Did I hear anything back???? NO IS THE ANSWER!!!! Spleen duly vented! Before anyone says owt BAS or TD 5 Alive will be gracing my next vehicle with a remap but having shelled out already???? I am but a small fish in a big pond and am disappointed that Autologic have not seen fit to respond. If you read this and work for Autologic or anyone has a 'hotline' to them please ask them to check their INBOX please!!!! For the sake of minimal performance and obsessive behaviour on behlaf of owners - lessons to be learnt - don't mess about with remap!! It affects your pocket badly.

Bet it's a 'hoot a minute' in your household. Just one thing to add..... "I GOT LOADS A MONEY" May resort to buying another two remaps - One from BAS and one from TD5! Why? Because I can!!!! Close the door on your way out! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

AJS4x4/K9F,
I took the autologic off mine as it highlighted an underlying problem. Having spoke to "ROBOFARMER" about his EGR blanking plates, he kindly pointed me in another direction first to get the problem resolved. I appear to have 2 problems with mine worse with the Autologic re-map installed. 1) Puffing black smoke and holding back between 1800-2500 rpm 2) the feeling of throttle overrun both in gear and during gear change. The fault codes logged at the point the MIL came on pointed to EGR and Fuel pressure sensor. The latter more likely to be the cause. This is apparently quite common but is not so noticeable until a re-map is installed. Most common cause i am told is an incorrect LR flash on the ECU. I should have mine back on Friday and will let you know if this does the job. JMS |

Jay, This could well be the incompatability issue that Autologic are working on supposedly. I cannot get to my independant for another couple of weeks due to other commitments ....I am due a service imminently so may leave it til after then. Be very interested to see if you're able to get a resolution. Thanks for a constructive answer!!! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Hit whoever you handed the cash to for the tune with a small claims action if they won't refund you, can all be done online and there are no solicitors costs.
Write them a nice polite letter giving them 14 days to either install what you paid for or refund you. Autologic is their problem not yours. Pom |

K9F,
Most welcome....... Final thought for the day. I was told by my new found friendly dealer/service centre, LR patches / software updates / remaps call them what you will are done in 3 stages. (or should be) stage 1 done with the ignition OFF stage 2 done with the ignition ON stage 3 done ENGINE RUNNING. All stages should be conducted with a constant voltage across the battery + 13v Most of the updates that dont take properly are because the above was not followed. The garage was not named but located north of Watford has just killed 8 ECU's and the cost of a car due to not following the above. |
