Hi,
Can I ask what you did in the end? I have a similar query, lots of little area as shown in picture 1. I'm thinking its a question of sanding back to base Ali, then etch and paint..... Cheers Andy |

Hi Andy,
In short, I'm still working on it. The collected wisdom seems to be : (a) prevention is better than cure (b) to truly sort the problem replace the panel (not always practical or cheap) and anything else will delay the return of the corrosion but not cure it. In cleaning up the area shown in the second picture it turns out there was a large amount of mud holding moisture against the inside of the panel which caused the problem. I'll be booking my truck into a local LR specialist to get the repairs done then religiously following the corrosion prevention guide on this forum. Having said that if this is the worst problem I discover with the new truck then I'll be happy! |

Ken Wheelwright - renowned Series One restorer told me he used vinegar on such corrosion to get rid of it. I presume that it neutralises the oxidation? Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....
