Google / apple maps before you set off, get a decent route, check the roads are all suitable, print out the directions and the. make a list of the main junctions on a post it note and put it on the dash.
Use sat nav as a guide but always have a chosen route before hand and ignore the satnav if it seems to be going off somewhere you haven't already planned to go. Especially with a caravan or other high roofed vehicle. Our blog - http://landytravels.com/ Yorkshire Off Road Club - http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net |

Sparkylee....not sure of mpg at the moment but it would appear to be bl##dy great!
(doing a 'trial' at the moment....watch this space so to speak) Pam.....dont disagree with your comments but on this occasion a big F O pothole hidden by a puddle couldn't be avoided. |

I spent a year repairing caravans, believe it or not its a common problem.
Saw a lot of this when people forgot to put the legs down or would reverse into a slope / log Kept us busy at the end of the season when the work dropped off. If you book it in at the end of the year you may be able to get a deal on the repair price Excuse the spelling I`am better with spanners and wires. |

so got the photos.
defender didn't go into pot hole otherwise I would like to think I'd have slowed down to avoid the caravan dropping into it. would like to think you were just joking about the 'just poor driving' ? ....on the plus side I'm thinking there's still 2 more corners on the caravan for me to damage for my parents. plus this also gives me the incentive to buy a twin axle did I get round to asking if anyone can recommend a repairer in B'ham area? |

Try yellow pages to start with or go to a local caravan dealers and ask them. I will have a look in caravan magazines Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

Buy it off your parents & then you could ally tread plate the corners so it looks like a land Rover caravan, especially if it leaks as well!!
On a more serious note looks reasonably level when hitched, but don't caravans look low when connected to a Defender? |

Can you get lift kits for caravans? I reckon that needs raising by at least 6 inches to give a satisfactory departure angle.
