It's not easy
Gearstick, fuse box and heater is the biggest problem everything else is ok I'm lucky as the customers one I have in wanted a auto so that's what we have fitted you would have to heat up and reshape the gearstick otherwise CSK Automotive www.cskautomotive.co.uk Like us on Facebook - www.facebook.com/csklr Follow us on Instagram - @cskautomotive |

There's also the issue of the gauges/instruments. Tdci uses CANBUS which no previous Defender has, so in order to use the later instruments you would have to add a CANBUS system via some sort of controller that could read the parameters and feed them to the gauges. The easier option is to remove the later gauges and put a set of Td5 ones in their place, this is what I would do.
Gearstick could be solved by bending it as above or maybe by changing for a Discovery gearbox which I think might put the levers further back (ie. halfway into the seatbox). You'd have to do a bit of cutting about. |

Retro, very informative, thanks. Think I might give that idea a miss then. Now left.

I have thought about doing the opposite and fitting a td5 dash with vents in a new tdci but thought I would just get a td5
