Quite a bit of weight that will be very high up,I'd buy a trailer. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

I am not sure mine qualifies as a flat bed as it’s a tipper, but I believe the bed is at the same height and of course the sides come off. Happy to take some pictures for you if it helps.
Something to bear in mind though, clearly the weight isn’t going to be an issue but as Jimbob states, that's a lot of weight that high up. I use mine for carrying logs and without modification if felt like i was going to tip over around most sweeping bends. Now mine runs with different wheel’s/tyres and i’ve got airbag helpers, it's made a massive difference and I’m happy to load it to the gunwales. Nick 2.2 110 Tipper |

One of Land Rovers great qualities that make them so successful off road is the coil sprung rear axle with massive articulation compared to any leaf sprung trucks. However, this is also a major problem for what you propose since the height of your flat bed is going to be limited by the maximum articulation. Take a look at the top of the wheel arch boxes in the back of your truck. Your flat besd must be at least this high. As stated above this will make any load carried up there awfully unstable and it will also look gash I am afraid.

Thanks for the link.
To be honest im not fussed about how it looks. It would be handy to be able to transport an argo without the need to tow a trailer. Im going to give it a go and see how it comes out .............. whats the worst that can happen. |

You need an Eezion Landrover - perfect solution but sadly nearly as rare as hens' teeth.

Can't be any worse than a 110/130 with a cherry picker or lazy sides on (or as I saw in town today, a 110 with a grit spreader on the back)
Fit the 130" double spring inserts (i have these on my 110) and it stops a lot of wallowing. |
