Matt,
Anti clockwise..... They can be complete ba5t4rds to remove. I didn't want to strip the threads and the amount of force I was using there was a serious risk of doing just that. I ended up bending the slam panel securing bracket out of the way and getting it out without removing the studs with a rubber mallet. On refitting the nuts reformed the slam panel back to original form. Keep your bonnet cable securing clamp safe as it can just drop out when you remove the slam panel. I lost mine and had the inconvenience of a dealer trip to get a replacement. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

I considered the same Munch but couldn't get the studs out without some serious engineering effort. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

why do they fit studs any way , I would say bolts would be better and easier at the factory

All done
Took 3 1/2 hours, of which: 2 hours removing/fitting intercooler, nuts, bolts, soft A-Bar etc. 1/2 hour getting the new silicone hoses in 1 hour finding out why the bonnet wouldn't shut and fixing it - okay, so I had dropped it previously 
Many thanks again to you guys and BAS for lightning-fast service and patient help  Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Well done Matt,
That's quite some going. Took me considerably longer but I fitted stainless steel pipes that gave limited access to the end unions which were irksome to say the least. Have you done the turbo too? Also did you have to degas the aircon or did you get away without? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Cheers - no, I left the aircon well alone (hopefully didn't damage anything).
It was hard enough getting the silicone hoses on (I had to undo some things again before I could) - God knows how you managed it with stainless steel ones
Off for a test drive later
Matt p.s. left the turbo for now - I'm reconsidering the upgraded version due to type-approval and insurance issues (impossible here). As the uprated ones look like the original and are hidden under the heat shield it's still awfully tempting... Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
