Tyres Rubbing on Wheel Extentions
Hi guys

As you may know we have just bought a set of 265/75x16 insa turbo special tracks which the rears are rubbing slightly when going over speed bumps so we had a mess about with one of the wheels / tyres using a corner of a curb and a car ramp but we just couldn't get it to articulate enough it was close but not close enough and whilst doing this we removed one of the rear wheels and the wheel space just to see how it looked it will be better this way as the tyre is more in the extention rather than close to the top edge of the extention but decided the tyres would look daft like this now so we put everything back on and have decided later to go to a green lane we know and see how the extentions cope and mark out where they are rubbing and decide wether to trim the extentions of give the landy a lift so will report back later Very Happy Graham

OK, looking at those photos it would appear that the tread of the tyre is protruding pass the edge of the wheel arch flare. Then again photos can be deceptive

As far as I am aware that is illegal.

So rather then trim the existing wheel arch flare you might be better replacing the existing one with wider flexi arch ones from say Flatdog HERE

Or remove any spacers you have fitted.

Looking at the pics in your gallery, the back of the 90 looks very low so maybe it's your springs and shocks that are tired and sagging.

Certainly get rid of the spacers, looks odd when the wheels/tyres stick out too far. Plus the amount of crap that gets thrown up the side of the truck will be unbelievable...Smile Trust me, I've been there..!

Cheers

You need to remove the spacers - that will solve the clearance issues, plus modulars already have a massive offset - adding spacers to modulars is too much and gives it the redneck look IMHO Thumbs Up

G
I would stick a set of 2" + springs on and remove the spaces, I would be interested in the spacers if you get rid of them?

Tyres look good. I'd consider a lift and maybe trim the corners?

Wheres the green lane? you might be better testing it at a pay and play though mate. More fun for you and wont upset anyone Smile Defender puma dormobile camper

I have 35" x 10.5" simex and about 6 cm lift.

and it still touches even after a liitle trimming.

My tyres extend a little to far too about 4 cm while the dutch law says 3 cm max.

Now I went for a little stiffer springs 285 lbs front and 325 rear and that is just enough not to do damage.
It still touches at full articulation. Roel

Whaley bridge Cheshire but on the boarder with Derbyshire, yeah the lane was just to test the tyres against the extentions really but yeah I know what you mean Smile Graham

I removed all the wheels spacers today and it has made a great difference, tyre noise has been slightly reduced, the car no longer tries to twist when going round corners, and the extentions don't rub anymore when going over speed bumps, but will still need to be tested on rough ground really but think it will be all right Very Happy Graham
