Insurance for a 130 - Van??
Hi guys,

Have spotted a very nice 130 I like the look of and have run a few quotes on a popular compare site (as its Sunday and everywhere is closed Rolling Eyes) but when I put in its reg number it automaticly comes up as it is a van and must be insured with van insurance even though I am using it as a private individual.

Does any one know if this is definitely the case?

Also looking at the quote it as nye-on £2k Shocked

Will give Adrian Flux a ring when they open up again and see what they say but how do others insure their rigs?

Also bit of info is a TD5 singlecab quadtech.

Thanks in advance!

Dog

Try Aviva van insurance - I insured my sons 90 truck cab through them (he was only 18, just passed his test) - came in at less than a grand - any other sites were quoting min of £2,500 up to really stupid money.... 1959 Series 2 Ragtop

Just insured my 110DCPU through insurance factory with an Aviva PB policy. It covers commercial vehicles but gives the same benefits as car insurance. There are commercial comparison sites out there for a better choice.

I agree, nothing wrong with van insurance, it will probably be cheaper anyway.Mines through Aviva and no probs.
Good luck Thumbs Up

I found the same thing when I tried to insure my new (to me) 130 at the beginning of last month. None of the car insurance comparison sites would touch me.

I ended up going with the NFU. With 3 points, at 34 years old in Tunbridge Wells it ended up costing me £750ish (up from about £450 for the X-tech Shocked )

They tried to sell me on some nonsense about my NCB not applying to the 'van' but they eventually relented.

Will give them all a ring on Monday when they open again.

My 110 is up for renewal soon too so will need to have a ring round all the usual suspects and will give the site sponsors a go too.

Have tried NFU before and always found them to be very expensive in comparison and one year not even be able to quote me unless I was already with them!

I've found NFU cheapest for my D3, 110, & 130 except my Series 3 that I have insured with Adrian Flux.
