Cheers Jim,
I have the Memory-Map tiles for the area so have been having a looksee, so many BOATS to choose from! Good news is there shouldn't be any live firing this weekend according to the April newsletter. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications...meter-path Anyone up for joining me? John |

A good day was had playing on our own. Note to self and others..... The tank dip at chalk pit is too deep for defenders.
We had wet feet and a scary moment. Other note is 9 mile river is not passable at any point other than the top end BOAT. And even then it was deeper than I would have liked. Below is just after we crossed. I stepped out to take a breath ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge Looking back ![]() Click image to enlarge |

We went through the 9 mile river puddles last w/e... Was no hassle
Just one thing.... There is no RoW through the CCDA.... The byway follows the gravel track around the outer edge, so any large water area you drove through was definitely off-piste ![]() Last edited by diesel_jim on 6th Apr 2014 4:58pm. Edited 1 time in total |

The big dip we had to back out of was here just on the turn, on the 2014 O/S it was bang on the BOAT, the older variant Matt had showed the boat to be on the gravel permissive.
![]() Click image to enlarge This is where we crossed the the 9 mile, our intended crossing was the blue line, but it looked too flooded. ![]() Click image to enlarge p.s. when I say Tank dip, I don't mean the really fun looking tank training area a bit further up (looks fun) I mean like a 'sheep dip' but bigger ![]() |

Ah yes, I know it... just before the entrance to the CCDA.
That puddle still isn't on the RoW though! |

You are absolutely right. Apologies
I just got the track off the gps it would appear that the dip was here and we were slightly off piste, good job we reversed and got back on the gravel. ![]() Click image to enlarge |

Bump back to the top....
I may be out there this afternoon (Sunday). I've got a couple of jobs in today; Oxford and then Lambourn, so might do some byways and end up on the areas. Anyone else out? I'll leave my CB on ch10, or any of the usual suspects want to fling me a text I'll let you know where I am. Nothing arduous; just gently bimbling about drinking tea no doubt. |
