Heavy duty track rod
I'm after a heavy duty track rod for my Defender 90 (03 reg)

Any makes in particular to steer clear of or alternatively are the dogs Censored and I should definitely get.

Was thinking of getting standard to replace standard but for the minimal increase in price I'll go heavy duty.

Get sumo bars from Gwyn Lewis. Great kit simple. He also provides them with track rod ends that have grease nipples.

I've run them for years without issue, and will be changing the new truck ones across when needed.

+1 for Gwyn Lewis Sumo Bars.

I have a set on my Defender 90 and also the Discovery drop arm conversion. Highly recommend them.

Thanks guys, did either of you get the kit which converted it from a standard defender "swan neck" drop arm to a "straight" discovery drop arm. Just wondering if it's worth getting??

Considering I'm not going to be doing any extreme off roading I should be fine with his standard heavy duty as well, no need to go for extreme?

Looks like some decent gear he's putting out. Defender 90 XS TD5 (03 Reg)

I swapped drop arm to disco one, BUT getting the original drop arm off was a Censored . cut it off in the end. But if your drop arm ball joint is ok, leave alone.

Okey dokey, thanks a lot

Do you have his extreme bars on andy, or standard ones?

I have a Paddocks heavy duty track rod which has served me very well. I have also done the Disco drop arm and my steering has never been better, I went the easy way and bought a steering box with arm attached and sold on my defender one for the same price. 2015 RRS Autobiography SDV6

I had (they were on the 90) standard ones, I think, as I'm not sure he did extreme ones then. I think standard ones will be fine for you. Gwyn's extreme is very extreme for everyone else Whistle . Get loads of grease/copper slip in the tubes when assembling Thumbs Up Much better design than the standard clamp end.
