Tuff trek awning
Just bought an awning for use over the summer from " tuff trek" which sell roof tents , awnings and awning rooms at a reasonable price.
www.tuff-trek.com
I've no connections with the company, but have to say that I'm really pleased with the quality and customer service from Dara from tuff trek who I was in contact with prior to buying.
Here are some pics from a quick overnight camp at bassenthwaite Lake District prior to a longer camp with family on isle of mull at end of May...
I'll use the awning room for overnight stops and the awning for shelter whilst birdwatching on mull....

Excellent news. I was about to post and ask whether anyone had experience of them. Looking at their 270' awning and sides. Very good prices compared to the others if the quality is as good. Plus, British Made I think.

Thanks for posting. Thumbs Up

I keep thinking, or rather dreaming of the same 270. I've spoken to the guy, who is on this forum, he's very enthusiastic about his new business, and very pleasant. Top bloke. 1998 110 300Tdi White Hard Top

I was looking at them but it then appeared a little spat broke out on here between him and a competitor which put me off. Looks good kit although not seen one in the flesh.

Hi Jeeves

Where did you actually buy it from - for the life of me I cannot find anywhere on their website where you can go to buy anything.

Thanks
Gavin

Hi Gavin,
I contacted Dara direct via the email link on the contact page or I think his mobile number is on the website...
If you do get one, I took some pictures of my brackets which having an expedition roofrack, I had to drill a couple of holes into to secure each bracket....Very simple though
Thumbs Up

Jeeves,
I have looked at their stuff before & was wondering about the quality as I've no seen it in the flesh as such.
The gear they have seem's a good price if it's good quality.
Looked at the same awning set up you have for weekend camping.

I currently have a Hannibal roof tent and ordered the tourer kit for it from Nene Overland, not impressed by the quality or service. I had to send the whole lot back 3 times until the 4th one was better than the previous 3.
The stitching looked like it had been done by Stevie Wonder. Rolling with laughter
Rang Nene and they said they would send another 1 out & the courier will collect the other 1. I asked them to check it over before sending it out to me & they said they would, but low & behold no better than the one I had just sent back. This happened another twice.
I used it this weekend in Wales for the 1st time in wet weather & it leaks, not very good at all considering the price of it compared to Tuff Trek. Where the Velcro is fastened on to the fly sheet it leaks in to the room below as there are stitching holes.

I'd like to see the Tuff Trek stuff so you can check the quality. Thumbs Up

Whilst I cannot give a comparison to other products, I can reassure you about the quality.....particularly given the price.
My set up is the awning and then the awning room which I paid extra for .
There is a lighter fabric but mine is the heavier oxford canvas type of the same material as the awning.
My set up was around £560 delivered for awning AND tent.
As I say there is a cheaper alternative lighter fabric.
My wife and I were very pleasantly surprised by the quality, YKK zippers etc. And I know I can get spares as I bought direct from the owner.
I'll post some more pics over next month or so as I'm going on family trips to landrover spring adventure at Harrogate and also isle of mull.
I reckon I can get 2adults and two kids into the tent on camp beds in comfort and have access to the dog in the 110 via rear door of tent....it's a real hit with the kids !!

Just spoken to Dara. Haven't spoken to such a helpful and enthusiastic person Very Happy in a long time so going to try and get down to East Sussex to work out the full specification of what I am after.

He is showing at the LandyLive event on the 6-8th June in Stratford-upon-Avon for those interested.
