The seals can be changed yes, available from most reputable spares shops although I'd opt for genuine ones myself.
Do you plan on using the vents? I suppose silicon or similar will cure the problem but if it was me I'd swap the seals. |

As above, new seals and keep adding seals till it stops leaking, only real Defenders have flaps at the front

Replace the seals with the older style rubber ones not the newer foam ones. I couldn't get mine to seal even with genuine foam ones, changed to the latter rubber ones and hey presto!!
If i can find the part numbers i'll post them up #MUC4299 x 2 HTH |

Have you tried leaving the bear at home. Perhaps he is a bit incontinent?

Yeah i'm aware they don't open. But there appears to be some sort of felt lining around there that is damp. If its a completely sealed area as your pic suggests, then must be coming form around the windscreen |

In the Defender Waterproofing manual, there's a "fix" for this.
One part is the fix an extra layer of closed cell foam to the vent flap, the other is the drill a hole (possibly 16mm, I cant remember the figure) further down on the flap lever section so that the 'closed' position pulls the vent tighter in place when closed. It reduces the open gap slightly, but not by much ... I'll see if I can find it! |
