If you get an independent to do your service get a receipt for the oil used. Make sure it lists the brand and type of oil used. You'll need this to prove to Land Rover that the oil was up to recommended standards if you ever have to claim for engine or turbo problems in the future.
Let them know in advance of your warranty issues. E-mail the service manager and you'll have a record of it for the future if needed. The price quoted seems a little high. My first service on a 2.4 Puma in 2012 was £224 and that included wiperblades . That was at a maindealer. Latest service quotes Castrol Edge Pro at 11.50 plus vat per litre so you'll be using seven of those, That's your biggest cost apart from labour. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

My first service in Jan was £393 including loan car. After phoning round this is about right from a main dealer.

Thanks everyone for the replies
I have now spoken to, and very impressed with Land Rover main dealer at Boston. They were also recommended by a number of other non Defender Land Rover owners as well. All booked in and they were hugely more competitive than either Peterborough or Kings Lynn so going to go with them. Good point about receipts if using independents, I know under the European ruling LR cannot reject them, however, you always get the feeling, almost certainly unwarranted, that the main dealer will use it against you if you hit any warranty issues. |

Forgot to add. I have done a little better than John or Steve, possibly the location, and it does include a car for the day

Glad you got a good deal on your service.
I've got a great local specialist for my older 90 but will still use main dealer for my 110 while under warranty to save any hassle if something goes wrong with it. |
