It don't really think it's possible, viable and I don't think it's worth the hassle! I don't think it needs to be changed to LHD though to allow an import?
Welcome to Fuerteventura though! I've just come back from a lovely break, and I've been going ever since I was knee high! Where abouts are you based on the island? An engine to TDi for! "Land Rover- Proudly turning drivers into mechanics since 1948" |

Its is possible: As far as I know, several RHD old Defenders from Falkland islands have been entered in the free custom zone of Punta Arenas here in Chile and was changed to LHD. But is not easy and a good work can be very expensive (in this case the low cost of the vehicle make attractive the modification). May be is better and less expensive for sure sell the RHD 90 in UK and try to buy with the money a similar LHD 90 in the continent. Also the money that you are willing to paid for the conversion, can be use in some extra gadgets or a new one . i considered converting my LHD to RHD when I returned from abroad, but to be honest, it's not financially viable unless you could swap bits with someone who wants to do the reverse.
basically steering, brakes, pedals, wiring loom and probably some electronics I'm keeping mine LHD its perfect for european overlanding |

I drive LHD 110 in Uk and I the only issue its the tolls and supermarket parkings. Both if alone.
so best solution, instead of cannibalize the car is, as you start the post with a (We), get the the co-driver to pay the tolls and get the parking tickets. In order to obtain the ITV (MOT equivalent) you may need to change the headlights, fog light and reverse light, your speedometer has KM as well so you are good with that. Just install THE air, if you don have it already, as in the island its a bit hotter some times cheers |

Thanks for all the replies, I've got an appointment with the ITV man on Friday to see what the score is...I've brought LHD headlamps over with me, so can stick em in myself.....hopefully all will be well but some people are saying that pickups are a no no if they are classified as N1 or light commercial....on my V5 it has N1 so we will see. I know that other people have had massive dramas importing RHD ford rangers etc apparently something to do with the open back, mine should be OK as I have a canvas tilt on the load bay.....! Ps we are at Corallejo on Fuerteventura

if you can't convert, you'll just have to practice handbrake turning around at speed and reversing into toll booths etc Cheers, David

like Luis says, you will need to swap the fog and reverse lights over, however this is pretty easy, first swap the lense covers over, then you will need to find the grey connetor that joins to the rear loom, there are 2 wires to swap ... fog and reverse ... that's it
