Assuming you`ve checked the water pump, viscus coupling, air flow thru rad, all coolant pipes the same temp ect. I have had many tdci / dura torques with water pump impellers spinning on there shafts always fun that one.

If you have a code reader and if possible does the tdci engine have a engine oil temp sensor or a selected parameter to read from. It may give you a similar temperature reading, oil and water temps are usualy a few degrees or so of each other

Can you get a similar reading to coolant temp via inlet manifold temp sensor (not mass air flow) I know it only gives a air temp but a spike in one may show up on another,
If a tdci`s getting that hot it should just shut down and leave no code or at least that's what transits do.

This may be a bit old school but have you thought of dropping a thermometer in the expansion tank or use an infera red temp sensor, I`ve had one for years diagnosed many faults with it .

David,

I have the same problem and drives me crazy (randomly lost of power but mainly under hot conditions at 6th gear). Already I changed the MAF but nothing happens. Im now in the way to change the viscous coupling and the thermostat. If you solve the problem please post it.

Cheers Eduardo
