Changed the A frame ball joint yesterday... required a lot of heat, and hammering, but got it out in the end.
The replacement was greasable and adjustable, and came already fitted to the fulcrum, from Gwyn Lewis. Click image to enlarge 1998 110 300Tdi White Hard Top |

Not today, but thursday..
Had a BBQ out of the back of the 110 on Abersoch beach. Lovely weather for it and the food always tastes better off a barbecue! Also made use of the excellent inbuilt bottle opener (a.k.a. door catch) Click image to enlarge Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Went for a drive to Stellling Minnis (midway between Canterbury and Hythe) today to visit the windmill and have a cream tea,Stopped on the Minnis first to take few photos with the new I pad with a view to trying to post pics on here.
Click image to enlarge The weather was pretty cr@p here in the south east today so the windmill was pretty deserted which made for good picture taking opportunities ( but not much good for their fund raising). Click image to enlarge A quick drive through the fords at Patrixbourne of which there are 3 within half a mile to wash the wheels off, this is a rare opportunity as the nailbourne according to local legend only flows a very seventh year (it has not flowed to any extent since 2000). Took mine down to Inverness for the Highland 4x4 Response team stand at Cafe V8's Easter bonanza event. We made some new contacts and got invited to 2 further events within the Highlands in May and June. 2007 (57) Defender 90 (Sold)
Looking for another to replace it. The road less travelled.... is a muddy one! |

Not a defender, but fitted a new exhaust manifold to the series 1 and washed the cobwebs of it. Gave her a 5mile run to make sure everything is ok.

Justified refitting my snow cowl.
Click image to enlarge Winter tyres and snow chains not quite so justified as roads were clear. Click image to enlarge Then drove 621 miles back to Calais, over two days. 2 adults, 3 kids, two snowboards and loads of junk. Easy. Recently tuned engine ran without fault the whole way, kept up with other vehicles without tempting me to drive too fast. Heart in mouth moment as the gendarmes pulled out in front of me with blue lights on, but their target was the X5 behind me, thankfully. |
