Mine goes above 90 degrees celsius, but only when towing up a long hilly stretch.

yep, ill get a good one.
Is it likely to make a difference to the CWT problem? How would i tell if my car is actually getting that hot? Thinking maybe the temp sender? Although if it is hot I'd have thought you could smell it or see steam from the header tank at 115c+? But maybe not. Also it seems to recover remarkably fast but the standard gauge doesn't seem to read very accurately, basically seems to read 'ok' or 'not ok' haha Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

yeah MAF doesn't seem to be directly related, I've had that code before and can't really see how it could be affected.
First i think i need to establish whether the vehicle is actually overheating? The fact that the OBD diagnostics app and the gauge indicate so would suggest that either: - the vehicle IS overheating - the vehicle ISNT overheating but the vehicle thinks it IS (therefore sensor?) how would i differentiate? if it was sensor playing up it may do when cold after first start up
does it warm up ok ie:temp gauge goes up steady or plays around when no where near running temp |

yeah it behaves perfectly, and the fact that the OBD gauge readout agrees is suggesting to me that it may be working ok.
Maybe ill give my radiator and fan a check to make sure they're not filthy? And I've checked the water level is ok. I can't believe that a simple remap may have suddenly caused overheating issues? Especially since it often seems to happen not under much load or when coming down from high speed (e.g. leaving motorway or arriving at roundabout on dual carriageway) Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

I don't think remap will cause overheating on its own , yes remap could cause something to fail like headgasket but only if it was on its way out anyway , but the headgaskets problems are rare
don't forget obd will still take its information from the same sensor water pump can draw in air causing cavitation and that gives strange heating problems , and not leak water out ,, how is it on a steady slow run ( keeping revs down to minium ) if it was rad I would not expect temp rise and fall quickly Last edited by munch90 on 19th Apr 2014 12:56pm. Im not exactly sure, it seems to be sporadic with little regularity to when it happens, although it hasn't jet happened to me at very high speed (70+).
Mostly seems to happen in 5th and 6th gears when doing 50-60mph when revs are a little lower, but has also happened in lower gears (1/2/3/4) but mostly shortly after coming down from a higher speed. As i said though i did a fairly fast run to Wales the other day often doing 75 up long hard hills and it was fine then, and suddenly it'd do it when i was say cruising along at 50 on flat ground. EDIT: re head gasket etc, it runs beautifully no smoke etc so don't think its that, but I've not had much experience with cars (only 19). Will take dad out in a bit and get him to watch all temps etc on the OBD diagnostic app to see what he thinks Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

could be pump drawing bit of air in when at higher revs and pump is pushing water round quicker its ok ???? , but to be honest its hard to diagnose something without car in front of me

yeah its never done it at higher revs. Ill first try to establish with dad whether or not its overheating in a bit.

don't pay a fortune for a land rover maf ,just make sure you get the same make proper one from motorfactors ,ask them what make it is and if they can get the make you want
