HTC One M8 car kit
Just got myself a new phone after giving the old one a drop test onto hard stone driveway! Mad Now I have an HTC One M8 and wanted to know if anybody has experience of the HTC car holders?

Specifically I am looking at the HTC One M8 Car kit CAR D190. Does anybody have any other favourites (maybe a Brodit device?) It will need to be fairly sturdy as things that aren't bolted down in the Defender get a pretty rough ride!

Also wondered about the charger lead... what better way there is to provide a charging point - one tucked away behind the dash console rather than using a USB lead to the cigarette charger??

I always use Brodit holders and clips. Also, use the cigarette connection to power it, but mainly because I swap the holder between a few vehicles.

For other wiring I try and hide it away if possible, but that may just be my OCD kicking in..Wink

cheers

simon

PS I'm looking for a new phone, so interested in how you find the M8...

I have this setup for my Nexus 5:

I also bought the larger x mount for 7" tablets and it stuck like glue even when giving it large on Salisbury plains at xmas.

I've been an HTC fan for many a year now so this phone was inevitable as it was launching just as I dropped my old one, but it did face a close call from the Samsung Galaxy S5. Has to be Android... Apple is just not for me. I'll keep you posted on how I get on with it but I'm probably going to be easily impressed. I haven't bothered with a car phone holder for ages as my stereo accepts bluetooth connections and has a microphone on the dash so my phone just lives in the cup holder in the cubby box while driving. Think this phone deserves better though, and as I have the OBDLink LX I quite fancy viewing the Torque app on the screen, so a good phone holder is now very much in order. I just remember how flimsy some units were. I knew there would be some proper kit testers on here who have managed to use a handsfree kit whilst driving over axle twisting rocky outcrops or something. Very Happy
