Stornoway grey is the colour. Black goes really well with it and compliments it really well especially after seeing some of the others on this forum. Mind you, all landies look good whatever colour they are in IMO!!

Cheers. Decided to try plastidip on them rather than buy a new set. Much cheaper to do this way. Only took around three and a half cans. If I decide later I don't like it, I can just peel it off. Really good stuff and changes the look straight away. Worked out it cost around £45 to do the wheels. Also fitted a heavy duty steering guard which took about 15 minutes to do, and changed to clear indicator lenses. Lenses and steering guard came to abut £100 all in and very quick mods to do. Now got to think on the next bits.

Maybe a bit of black chequer plate for the side sills just to tie it all in? What do we reckon? Question

Looks really good Defpuma! I love plastidip as a cheap way to change the looks. Did you take the wheels off the 90 or did you just cover the brakes up? Do you think they would stand up in mud/water/stone chips? For that price you really cant complain! I think black chequer plate goes with stornaway grey completely Thumbs Up

Thanks LR Sam. It is the first time I have used it on anything but think it will do the job. Will have to wait and see how it stands up to a bit of mud and that. Don't see why it won't. There are some good videos on you tube by Dipyourcar.com which seems to show it standing up to a bit of abuse.

Agree that is is a cheap alternative to buying a set of wheels. I left the wheels on when I sprayed them up. Just put a bin liner on the inside to protect the discs. Didn't take long at all. Really recommend it to anyone!

Also coated the stainless steel bracket for the RAI. Ties it all in nicely now. Thnk I will go for the black chequer. Mammoth seems to be the best so far as I can gather?

Yes mammoth is up there or OEM but more expensive. Would you go for wing top chequer plate or just sills?

Definitely going to get some plastidip - been watching the videos for a while! Did you have to do the backs of the wheels or just the very front face? Thanks Defpuma!

Mammoth it will be I think. Think I will stick to just the sills at the moment. Had chequer plate in all the usual places on my previous defender which I did like. May do wing tops in the future, we will see.

Just did the front face of the wheels. The back part doesn't really show, so didn't bother with that. Go to plastidip.co.uk to get it. They often run out but it is a bit cheaper and good quick delivery on it. They have it in stock at the minute though!!
You looking to do your wheels? Which colour you going for? Thumbs Up

Meant to say that when you do spray the wheels or whatever you are going to do, do it in ice light coats and build it up. Don't be tempted to rush and put a thicker layer on as it can sometimes bubble up and then you have to start again unless you get some thinner to break it back down to re-coat. Definitely a case of more haste less speed.

Make sure it isn't too humid when you do it either as it can also make it bubble!!

I did the lettering on the front of the bonnet with it aswell. So easy to do. Just mask off around the area, spray it with around 4 coats, allow to dry between each coat, wait to dry and peel off around it all. Really simple, but an effective difference!

A few more updated pics. Bulldog 30mm wheel spacers fitted, sprayed the steering guard black, fitted mammoth black sill chequer plate, and reverted the wheel nuts to alloy rather than black. Seems to look better and a nice contrast to the black!.

I've only had mine a few days and yet I have become far more attached to it and far more quickly than any other vehicle I've owned. It's weird. I find it a bit in nerving. I worry about it a bit when I leave it anywhere.

Suddenly remembered that the mot runs out today. Rushed down to the local mot place who slotted me in straight away. Passed with no advisories for the second year running. Well pleased!!

Agree Stornoway Grey is the best colour for 90HT's...I went down the grey wheels route and was really pleased with the results...
