Yep had one since Tuesday whilst the Blue Pearl is in yet again Twisted Evil , Got a 90 Van 400 miles on the clock. Don't bother with 1st gear when not loaded. The speed limiter comes in at about 95 according to the speedo (reading high I expect). Strange feeling when it does feels like its trying to rock you to sleep Shocked . Brakes are better that a TD5 but obviously not as refined as a D3. You don't have to shout to have a conversation with your passenger. Goes a lot better that a TD5. Gear box takes some getting used to as the gates are a lot closer together than the TD5 box.
My only criticisms at the moment are (from memory and I should go and check Rolling Eyes ) Hi-Low gear leaver is in a silly position it operates from just above horizontal pointing to wards the rear of the vehicle and lifts up to about 35deg, because of its lay flat position you cant see what is embossed into the end of the knob, therefore one does not know which way to tug it Shocked ooh er missus. And the fact that they have retained the original steering column cover that houses the column switches, not sure of its technical name but its the shiny Twisted Evil black plastic thing that is located below the steering wheel.

The 90 Defender is now fun to drive and is very car like. Don't think all the die hards will be impressed, but I,m sure that this model will be very capable of winning the hearts of lady drivers and people that may have thought the defender was a bit basic/agricultural. Land Rover have opened the door to a rather large customer base. Wink

PS I may have to check and edit my comments on the Hi-Low knob.

I had the use of a 90 Hard Top Basic model at the beginning of May and loved it, it has so much more go than my TDi300 and at speed it is a lot quieter, and there is hardly any body boom or (in the HT) no drumming of the side panels at the back. A friend took delivery of a White County SW, having partexd a Disco1 TDi300 for it, last Thursday having waited since January when he ordered it - he loves it too, but too much to bring it on the offroad weekend HE arranged for us last weekend, his old 300TDi 90 got to do all the muddy, scratchy stuff!. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!
