^^Tks. 26HP Husqvarna, great machine indeed for reasonable price if comparing with similar size John Deere which is often used here. Has now about 120hrs on the clock and with regular maintenance it purrs like the SVX.

^^ Gum, you can leave them stored at the dealer, but they will obviously charge you for that. We have the luxury of living in the country side, and we have a very large covered wooden structure which is perfect for storing all garden equipment, the tractor, bikes, even fire wood.... (See the picture showing tires and tractor in previous post). This covered structure is only partly closed, so always fresh air, but no rain, and in certain areas no sunshine. So I can simply stack the Defender's (and my spouse's) winter rims/tires flat on two wooden pallets away from rain and sun. Wooden pallets isolate them well from any possible ground humidity. Actually this morning I washed the winter tires/rims, they are now drying out, and tomorrow the tires will receive a protective coating on both sidewalls (Meguiar's Endurance Tire Gel), and then go on their wooden pallet for at least 6 months.

Eric - so you store them stacked flat 4 tyres high ? or 2 piles or 2 ?

Steve, as mine are tires on the rims, I store them stacked/flat. Tires alone would have to be stored standing upright, and then you have to turn them a quarter turn every so often in order to avoid creating a flat spot.
I was told that when the tire on the rim is well inflated, like our 30 psi or higher, no problem whatsoever to make one stack of the 4. That is what I do, and they remain just perfect that way. I believe the most important is to keep them out of sunlight and away from rain/moisture. Eric You never actually own a Defender. ^^Cheers, I was just wondering as the dealers over here now offer a 'Tyre-Hotel' service as they call it, so they look after tyres in the summer/winter for you. I think it's about £80 a month!!

Drove to the Gower and back this weekend. 245 mile round trip, and my first long trip in the defender. It needs a bit of a clean now due to all the road muck.

2.2 110 oil change and fuel filter .
6.5 L Mobil 1 fully synthetic and genuine filters . Every 5000 miles for me . Oh yes ! And then parked it in the local Accident & Emergency car park for 4hrs ,,,,,, 7 yr old fell out of a tree and has head injury , concusion , bruised chest and a burst mouth . ( Lucky girl ) |
