Didn't HMS Hood come second best in a shoot-out with the Bismark........?

I don't think anyone could take a direct hit from Bismarck.

Yeah I waited a while to get it. Nice machine will start adding a few bits over the next few weeks.

It pulls really well, seems more sorted than my last 2.2. Enjoying being back in a defender after spending over two months in my wife's car.

Yeah let's hope I don't hit a merc not much chance of getting another.

I can see at least one similarity to the (last) HMS Hood - both were obsolete by the time they were built. Let us hope that in this case, unlike that of the battlecruiser, that obsolescence doesn't result in the unnecessary deaths of 1415 brave men.

HMS Hood?
Did you know Hood was one of the "wettest" ships in the Navy, and leaked like a sieve? She was jokingly referred to as the Navy's largest submarine.

I hope you haven't jinxed yourself!

What about "Dreadnought" insted?

(PS fine ship, though. A planned refit in 1941 would have brought her up to modern standards. Circumstances prevented that, of course).

Personally I choose Graf Spee; small, tough, virtually indestructible and diesel powered. A bit German, though.......

Strange decision to name a vehicle after a vessel associated with so many tragic deaths .......

It's a way of getting the lads to learn about british history. Now five more of my lot know what the hood was and what happened to those brave people.

I am enjoying driving the hood but

Just done my first brim to brim fill. It used 66litres and did 305 miles. I make that about 20mpg.

Honestly I haven't gone above 3k revs and have towed a trailer weighing 1.2 tonne for 60 mile of that.

That is the worst mpg I've ever done. Is it just running in or could there be a problem.

My 2.2 90 did 28mpg all the time
My 2.4 110 with Goodrich MTR did 26mpg all the time.
