Army used to run the b3 combat driver's course where they would demonstrate such things, including swapping out the full set of HT leads with bendy twigs and then running the vehiclefor several miles with no ill effects...

Why not, it might be a good repair as long as you keep the speed low.

Wooden brake pads are very popular in The Netherlands ( for not road going 4x4)
