To de-cat or not?
Morning

I'm still toying with the idea to de-cat my 2008 110. It's remapped but I still want extra grunt. I like the deep rumble with a de-cat pipe but will it drive me mad on long runs plus my main concern is its benifits or negotiates on the engine. I don't want to damage the engine or turbo.

And I understand that a mot will require it

Thanks

I have de-catted with a BAS remap and no issues at all, no extra noise, just a bit less heat in the cabin and turbo seems to spin up a little bit faster from standstill. --

I,m pretty sure there has been a thread on here very recently about re-fitting cats as its now a part of the MOT to check for the presence of a cat on a vehicle originaly fitted with one. 2005 Td5 90 XS

He already knows that Lou ... Read the whole post Laughing

Ian - Engine will run better without the cat, its not there to benefit the engine, but to 'strangle' it a bit to meet emission levels Neutral Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

This is an 'emotive' subject for some that feel as though it is their sole aim to 'police' the catalyst issue. It is best left to personal choice and trawling through historical threads than opening up the same can of worms with the same individuals gum bumping and singing the same old boring tune.

Mind you without a catalytic convertor the gum bumping turbo would spin up quicker and the tune would sound a little throatier I think.
