not going to bore you with all the different problems I've had etc.....
but now the damn thing won't 'break' when its supposed to? after struggling to fit an egr bland and nearly giving up I've managed to fit an undersized plate by wedging it in place. the plate has no hole in it and as such I was fully expecting it to bring a fault code up (MIL).... But oh.....engine seems at long last to be working fine but no MIL? .....Oh and LR have told me all is fine |

Are you 100% sure the bodge job you've done by wedging your undersize plate in place is not either bypassing or leaking? Either way you should have either a P1102 or P1103 code and an associated MIL light. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

99% sure.
Click image to enlarge Not the best photo...(just took it) .... hopefully you can just make out the plate that is 90deg round from where it should be (if it was the right size) ... So if no MIL does anyone know what might be broken? Putting the blank in has / appears to have improved things greatly.......so at the moment I'm of the opinion I need a new EGR.....any other thoughts? |

I thought you had recently taken it to a dealer to sort assess and sort the turbo out? Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

Yep. New turbo fitted.
But due to my suspicious nature / still not convinced everything was at it should be I thought I'd have a go at fitting the egr blank to see if that would sort the intermittent knocking noise I've long suspected to be related to the egr...... I'm now sure the egr isn't 100% because now not only is it running MUCH better early results suggest it’s running consistently too. I'm not amazed at how many problems I've had?? And if the egr is the culprit how on earth is it LR haven't sorted it before now??? |

Something else to worry about. No they're not too tight so I don't expect any issues on that front (well I wouldn't on any other car ) |

Indeed also the bit in the picture that is hanging out looks to me to be one of the slots that the bolts slide into ?
